Garretts' World

Happenings in the world of the Garretts'

Tuesday 4/17 - Back from the Dead

I thought I'd never get back to writing my journal, but here I am.  I have recently switched careers and am now a project manager for a small firm, not too far from home, working on SharePoint and Office Server technologies (collaborative web sites for those not technically savvy).  The last couple of weeks of my notice period at the last place were somewhat insane, what with finishing up projects and transitioning knowledge to other developers, but I'm all done now.

The new gig started like a rocket, with a 10 hour day for my first day of employment, but hey that's the price paid for going up the ladder and mounting a steep learning curve.  Today was a little less hectic, but still involved a trip into Washington DC for an all afternoon meeting with a client. Still, I'm very excited by the change and it's nice to take a break from bashing out code, which I am sure will also be part of the new job as my projects move from an "envision" stage to an "implementation" stage (how about that for engineering process talk).

On that note, the day isn't over and I have some other loose ends to attend to, so I'll end this post here, and hopefully won't be away too long before I post another entry.
