Happy March - Spring is on it's way, and perhaps I can say goodbye to snow for another year. I really should not complain about the white stuff - I haven't been too inconvenienced this year (apart from having to hire a contractor one time to break up 6 inches of ice on the driveway), I have an understanding employer, a decent snow shovel, and kids who are more than willing to keep me company when I need to dig us out. Still, I'll not be sad to leave Arctic like temperatures for warmer weather.
Is it me or are too many people in a flap about Congress's decision to move Daylight Savings? I have received no less than four different memos from my employer - all different staff members (need I say "Office Space?") - about the effect the change will have on my work computer(s). Have we all been spoiled by modern technology? Can we not remember how to change the system time when the clocks go forward? Sure, it's a pain to change clocks manually, but configuring my computer(s) to the correct time will be no different than changing the clock in the car, or the time piece on the kitchen wall, both of which have always required human intervention twice a year.
I am looking forward to the weekend after a busy work week. Tomorrow is the yearly meeting for Saddle Gals and Guys where we all get to vote on the rules and regs, pay dues, and eat free donuts and drink coffee
A short while ago I wrote about my scheme to simplify life, and while the family was away in sunny Florida I trimmed down the number of unnecessary electronic devices; cluttering up my precious time. Of course the proof of the pudding is in the tasting and now that the family has returned I can confirm that my plan is working. Lisa loves the XBox 360 for TV - she remarked that it is faster and likes that it requires little to no maintenance attention. I have found that I have more time to relax in the evenings, and have more time to play with the Simon and Bella now that my mind isn't sidetracked on fixing email servers or hacked entertainment setups.
