Ok, ok, so it's nearly a week since we entered into 2007. I'll use the same excuse and say that I have been really busy since we clocked over into another year. The truth is that myself and the family have just about recovered from the slew of illnesses that we were suffering in the run up the Christmas - our GP is making a living off of our office visits.
New Year Eve was quiet this time around - since Christmas was such a hustle and a bustle of fun, we decided to stay low key. Seems a lot of others decided to do the same. I have to say that it was a a bit of an anti-climax when the clock chimed midnight 1/1/2007, when I'm usually overflowing with booze, and this year I could actually make out the faces of the people in Time Square NYC on the telly.
The weather on New Year Day was... well shit, putting it mildly, and the kids had so much energy to expel that it was bubbling over. It stopped raining about middle of the day, so we motivated ourselves to take a hike. It appeared that my Geocache had been swept away with the recent rainfall, so I took this opportunity to drag the rest of the fam over to the secret location to plant a replacement. Since then a couple of cachers have found version 2.0 and report that it is still hidden and in full working order.
Like the picture above? I created it using Foto-Mosaik - a postcard-ware application that turns your pictures into a mosaic of thousands of pictures from your collection. So if you look closely, you can just about make out my picture collection.
Work is work, so I won't bore you with that, except to say that I've written a couple of awesome posts in my software blog about Windows Vista security enhancements.
Tonight I am writing this particular post under the influence of 3.5 glasses of wine (would have been 4 except that the dog knocked over half a glass), which is a nice welcome change for me, because I didn't drink much at all over the holidays due to illness.
Just got done watching "The Queen" - a film about... you guessed it, the Queen of England and the Royal Family. Specifically it is about the trouble the Royal's got into with the public people of England during the time of Lady Diana's death because they refused to acknowledge the mourning of the princess and called it "a private affair, not for the public." The film does a great job in portraying the mannerisms of the Queen and Tony Blair, they even managed to give the actor playing Charles a bald spot. All in all, I'd say the movie was a good watch - those looking to see it for the grisly details of Diana's death will be disappointed because the film focuses on how cold the Queen is after the accident, and centralizes around her interaction with the Prime Minister. US viewers, I'd recommend waiting until it appears on DVD.
That's all the news for now, until my next post, ta-ta.
