Garretts' World

Happenings in the world of the Garretts'

Weekend 11/23 - 11/26 Thanksgiving

This year's Turkey Day was a quick celebration - the plan was to devour the bird at my sister-in-law's place and the head home on Friday.  The journey up was pretty uneventful, except for counting the number of road accidents where people were more concerned with thoughts of cranberry sauce and stuffing than the road.  Tina did an awesome job putting the dinner together, and I was delighted by this vegetable mix dish that she put together.

Turkey always knocks me unconscious, and as with most TG dinners, in the middle of the afternoon I passed out.  Woke up for a few hours to take in some apple/pumpkin pie before heading off to bed early with the kids.

Early start on Friday morning (about 6am) to get back to Maryland for 10am - Lisa had a stamping day to attend.  We drove the trip back in two shifts with a stop off at Denny's for breakfast yum.

Pretty much spent all of Friday hanging out with the kids whilst simultaneously babysitting the laptop, which had decided that it was going to throw up - maybe someone was feeding it bad turkey.  Had a hard time recovering the operating system, so I decided to reinstall everything from scratch.  Went to bed really late on Saturday morning after installing the last of the applications on the laptop.

Woke on Saturday morning feeling like I hadn't been to bed, nothing a large does of coffee could not cure.  Enjoyed the fact that I'd been off of work for a couple of days and still had the weekend left.  Hung out with the family for the most of the morning before going outside to hang lights on the big spruce tree in the front yard.

Simon had his first XBox experience - I wanted to play Project Gotham for a while, and thought it'd be fun to show Simon.  Oh my, what have I started - Simon loved it, and what's more he did pretty well at the game (if you ignore the large dents in his game car and the buildings he crashed into).  Mom and I videoed him playing because he was having so much fun.  Ate Burger King Sat evening just so as I could get one of the promotional XBox games for $3.99.

Sunday - caught up with a few chores around the house - did some wash, fixed the bedroom closet door, and washed the dog.  Threw in some development work and wrapped up the long weekend ready for work on Monday morning.

Current Mood:    sleepy
