This weekend just gone was a relaxing one, I had big plans Friday to spend the time working on the house (loosing the Christmas decorations and tree), but it just never happened. Instead the family and I hung out at home and coasted through the weekend.
Saturday afternoon - Simon and I were out playing, Lisa's chickens were out, and the dog decided to chase one of the hens into the neighbors yard. I was sure that Cadey had got to her (the only layer at this point). So, there I am trying to get the dog back out of the neighbors bushes, whilst looking for a maybe dead hen without drawing attention to myself, and Simon is helping. I eventually gave up the hunt and made sure the other hens were safe, but later that night the missing bird came back - huh, they're not as stupid as I first thought.
Went out with the lads on Saturday night to a favorite bar in DC and found out that
Ed was back in town - good times, and I always love to sink a few beers with Anton and Greg. I dropped Ed home on the way back, and met his wife for a grilled cheese sandwich and coffee (hi Chantay - hope I spelled your name correctly). Ed was telling me about his recent achievements in becoming an
MCAD, his plans to become an
MCSD, and that the tests involved in both awards are not too difficult to pass if one is reasonably good at one's trade in the software business. For some time I have been telling myself that I'll put in for the exams, and it's time that I stopped dragging my feet and passed them. I also have big plans this year to obtain some project management training, so hopefully my resume will see more bulk in 2006.
Got home in the twilight hours of Sunday morning, and was wired from two cups of real coffee at Ed's. Lisa was still awake (thanks Bella), and so we chatted until gone 3am. Simon didn't get the memo about the late night, was up at 7:30am, and wondered why both Mommy and Daddy looked like they hadn't been to bed. We managed to persuade him to go back to bed for another hour. I surfaced at about 9am, and then made waffles - slurp.
The fam. and I headed out for a walk around midday Sunday, and I saw a great opportunity for my first
geocache in '06. We walked around a lake (about a mile or so) and Simon walked it all, Bella hitched a ride on Mom's back, even the dog came too.
The kids crashed in the afternoon, and I thought I'd take a nap too, but I filled up on Pepsi over lunch instead, so spent some time on the Internet purchasing a new navigation system for the car, and researching the installation process - more on this later.
Well, here we are on Monday morning facing a week work, until my next post - bye.
