Garretts' World

Happenings in the world of the Garretts'

July 21

It is 12:43am and I am sitting in front of my laptop eating animal crackers? "Why on Earth am I not in bed?", you ask, because I'm not tired, Isabella is still asleep in her stroller (and will wake up soon, I'm sure), and I am too excited to sleep because I fly to England this week. As for the animal crackers.. they were the only source of carbohydrate snack food that I could find in my closet, which contain sugar and do not require any cooking before eating.

My brother is getting married on Saturday, so my butt will be on a plane Wednesday night, I'll arrive on Thursday morning in London, kill some time in Luton until Saturday afternoon, and then make an arse of myself as best man when I give my speech at the reception.  I've been putting off writing of my speech for a few weeks now, and this evening I finally sat down and pushed out a rough draft.  When my brother was best man at my wedding he improvised his speech, and he did a good job. I just know I cannot carry that off, and will end up making a prat of myself in front of lots of people if I don't have something on paper.

I still have lots of stuff to do before I depart US soil, namely shopping, banking, packing and pulling out of hair because I've left everything until the last possible moment.

I'm not sure if I'll get the chance to blog when over in the UK. A little birdie tells me that my parents now have broadband so if I beg and plead, perhaps throw myself on the floor, and kick my legs up and down on the ground (seems to work for Simon when he wants something), my Dad might let me use his computer and Internet feed to post some words on my blog.  I must remember to bring the darn USB cable that connects my camera to his computer, so that I can upload pictures of me getting drunk being a model best man to the groom.

Other stuff.... oh yeah, anyone want to buy a Toyota Tercel DX 1993? It's going cheap because we want to get rid of it. The car runs okay for it's age, but requires a few repairs to keep it in working order, but will make a great run-around for someone with little cash. Drop me an email if you're interested - the buyer must collect, there'll be no shipping of the car to California... at least not at my expense.

Well, the animal crackers just ran out, I'm now starting to feel tired, and it sounds like Isabella is waking up for her late night feeding. Time for me to turn in.

Night....
