Okay, it's official. Lisa and I have received our appointment for a
scheduled C-section birth of our second child (if you want to know the
date, you'll have to
email me, so that the whole Internet doesn't know).
Our son Simon was born C-section 2 years ago this September, only his
C-section birth wasn't planned. After 20 hours of labor, 2 nurse shift
changes, and an exhausted wife, the doctor finally decided that Simon
wasn't coming out naturally.
I have to admit that it feels strange knowing that Lisa and I will
check into the hospital on the day, a few hours before the event, and then
I'll leave (Lisa will remain in hospital of course) a few hours
afterwards as a Dad for the second time. The process is similar to that
of catching a flight - prepare 3 hours early, endure a turbulent trip,
and arrive disoriented - only unlike an airline trip I'll be father to
another eating, sleeping, poopin' machine.
