Garretts' World

Happenings in the world of the Garretts'

May 28 - Memorial Day Weekend

I awoke early (early enough for a Saturday) to greet the cable guy, who was scheduled to fix my Internet (see my rant about Comcast). Whilst here, the cable man replaced a lot of my internal cabling, which involved me moving a large cabinet - hosting as my entertainment unit. Lisa and I had talked about buying some new shelving units from Ikea for the family room, to store our stuff and better organize the entertainment center. So, since I had moved the cabinet I suggested that we drive down to Ikea and purchase the new furniture.... A few hours later I had a garage full of cardboard boxes containing self assembly furniture.

Despite being deathly sick with flu, I spent the later part of Saturday and best part of Sunday constructing the new furniture (it's amazing what you can do under the delirium of drugs), and the results are shown below. The hardest part of it all was making three trips to Ikea - once to buy the furniture, a second time (and a second store) to buy parts that were out of stock at the previous store, and a third time because the glass in one of the units was shattered when I got it home.

I finished construction about 2am Monday morning.

Ignore the baby gate, it's there to stop a wild 2 year old from rearranging the furniture design.
