The big news this week is that I have changed jobs. I have now moved to a new project whilst
remaining with my contracting company (so technically I have not actually
changed jobs, per se). In the interest
of not getting my butt fired, for discussing the specifics of either previous
project or new project, I shall keep this post general in content. Suffice to say, the new project and office
location is like a breath of fresh air compared to what I was involved with
before.
I started fresh on Monday, and like the first day of any job,
it involved introductions to a number of names and faces, more than I can
remember in a week. The great part was
that some of the people I met I already knew through connections in earlier
projects. One person I met happened to
be my apartment neighbor before I moved.
The new place is all about web site development. I can take advantage of hookup to a fast pipe
for faster download of traffic, and get this - instant messenger is a promoted method
for communicating with office members.
This week has all been about the excitement of learning
something new and meeting new talented individuals. The only downer (there is always one) is that
the commute involves more traffic congestion because of where my new office is
located. Still, the mileage is about
half of before, which given the increased prices in gas, can only help my
expenses.
I have been so preoccupied with getting up to speed with
work that I have not reported much else in Garretts’
World. The weather (oh god, there
goes Rob talking about the weather again) has turned out nice this week, which
inspired me to fire up the grill on a couple of evenings. Beer in one hand, tongs in the other, the
smell of roasting beef on the fire, and I am happy camper.
