The Garrett/Turni family had a great time this Easter. We had a
household of people for Easter meal this year - the in-laws, our
friend Liz and her Mom, and our neighbors John and Nancy.
The Garrett family.... hey, who's the duck?
Saturday morning - woke up early to go riding with John and the
Saddle Guys and Gals drill team. In celebration of the Christian
holiday we all participated in an Easter egg hunt on horse back. Each
collected egg had a funny rhyme and the chance to win a prize
associated with it. Nanza and I did really well by wining the top prize
because we found the only white egg (others were colored), as well as a
prize for matching the egg rhyme to the rider's horse. Drill practice
was a little squishy since it had been raining the previous night, but
fortunately we didn't get rained on during practice.
Saturday afternoon - worked on my web site and blogs for a couple of
hours before breaking to help out with preparations for the evening
Easter meal.
Saturday evening - Enjoyed a full meal with 10 of us seated around
the table. Dad had cooked a full turkey and a joint of lamb, with sides
of mash potatoes, asparagus, peas and beans. A nice bottle of merlot
was opened to wash it all down (Simon had milk because he cannot handle
his liquor). Dining, conversation and cheer continued late into the
evening, by bed time I was starting to feel a little stuffed and
pickled.
Food's up, just one person missing.. oh that's me. No duck here!
Sunday morning - Lisa, Liz's Mom, my mother-in-law and Simon went to
church. I stayed to keep Dad, Liz and Tina company whilst cleaning up
from the party the night before. I did my church bit last weekend for
Palm Sunday, so I don't feel too guilty for not going to Jesus's place
on the anniversary of his resurrection. After church Simon went on an
Easter egg hunt that his Aunt Tina had put together for him.
Simon, looking all angelic after going to church.
Sunday afternoon/evening - in-laws left to go back to NJ. Liz, her
Mom, Lisa, Simon and I hung out, ate left over turkey and slumped in
front of the TV. A fitting end to a good weekend.
