This week was my first attendance to a social basketball meet. Some of my colleagues from AutoScribe, a place I used to work, get together and play on Wednesday evenings. I hadn't been in some time and decided it was about time that I burnt off some of that spare tire I have been growing around my waist.
For the first half an hour the guys killed me, but as the evening progressed and we cleared a few half court games I found it less painful to play.
For those of you who have never had the opportunity to play opposite me, I'm labeled “The Jacket”. This is because I mark my opponent and don't let them get away. The “J” certainly got his fair share of running around.
The last game was most interesting. My friend Clark suggested that I play the box while he and Steve took on Mangala and Eric. This was really cool, less running and more ball stealing - just the thing when the Jacket is exhausted from running around.
Stay tuned for more as basketball season continues.
